Conference Day
No school for the kiddos today. Parent-Teacher conferences are happening on campus. A mid-year check in to see how everyone’s doing. Interestingly, now that Atticus is in sixth grade, he was tasked with presenting a self-reflective piece as a portion of our allotted time. While there were no surprises today, it was reassuring to know Jennifer and I, and the teachers we spoke to, as well as our oldest, are all sharing a singular (happily positive) perspective.
Biscuits for Breakfast
Last night Atticus had the pleasure of celebrating a friend who was having a birthday. When I circled back to pick him up, it was exciting for the birthday girl’s mom to tell me she was eager to hear what we were planning on having for breakfast. Apparently, Atticus had spent some time sharing, that I always baked or cooked something elaborate and delicious for them each morning. Nice to know he appreciates it enough to share it as something he looks forward to.
At the last minute, I settled on scallion and cheddar biscuits with sausage and mustard. I specifically mention the timing because honesty I didn’t leave myself enough time. Thankfully, Hannah portioned out and fried up our sausage patties, Madeleine arranged the freshly stamped out biscuits snugly onto their sheet pan, and Atticus filled water glasses and prepared the table. Wonderful to have extra (willing and confident) hands when needed.
Back home from campus, it is too beautiful to stay indoors. Fall is in full effect. The air is crisp, the sun is shining brightly, and the leaves are proudly showing their autumn shades. We are going to head out to Tanglewood Park for a couple of hours. Hope your week is going well.
